Laura MitchellSenior Account Executive Laura is an experienced communicator who uses her talents to deliver positive results for clients. In her 12 years with Leslie Kline Lukas, clients of all sizes have counted on her knowledge, expertise and attention to detail to help them meet their goals and objectives. She understands her clients’ varied audiences, and knows how to write copy that resonates. Some examples of Laura’s contributions include:

• Writing, editing and producing electronic newsletters for the management consulting division of an international water and energy engineering company.

• Creating and executing media pitches, writing news releases, preparing press briefing packets, scheduling interviews and contacting editors about client products, programs, activities and services.

• Coordinating special event planning, including speechwriting, correspondence with key audiences, media placements and logistics.

• Assisting clients in dealing with sensitive issues, including coordination of meetings with government and community leaders, preparation of briefing materials, organization of letter writing campaigns and media relations.

• Writing and designing client brochures and newsletters that support public relations and marketing strategies developed on behalf of clients.

• Helping clients handle crisis situations, such as bank robberies, industrial accidents and government penalties, by developing and carrying out strategies to minimize the short- and long-term impact of these crises.

• Representing clients in meetings with designers and printers to assure that the finished product meets high expectations.

• Handling media buying and placement for clients.

• Conducting feasibility study research.

Prior to joining Leslie Kline Lukas, Laura was an award-winning newspaper editor and reporter. She won honors from both the Iowa Newspaper Association and the National Newspaper Association for reporting, editorial management, publication design and community service.

Laura earned a Bachelor of Science degree in family and consumer journalism from Iowa State University, and while in college participated in a yearlong exchange program in Glasgow, Scotland.
