Joan L. Lukas Joan L. LukasPresident and Co-owner

Joan brings passion and energy to each client challenge and opportunity. With more than 20 years of diverse public relations and marketing communications experience, she has created smart communication solutions for Fortune 500 corporations, higher education and nonprofit organizations. In particular, Joan is recognized for providing:

  • • Counsel to senior leadership in for profit and nonprofit organizations on a broad range of public relations, marketing and fund development issues to protect and enhance the organization’s reputation.
  • • Proactive media relations generating positive news placements on executives, processes and products in local and national news media including Fortune, Forbes, Business Week, The Wall Street Journal, USA Today, The New York Times, Los Angeles Times, In Style, Ladies Home Journal, Better Homes and Gardens and Self.
  • • Programs generating company goodwill and positive publicity from special events, news conferences, grand openings, stockholder meetings and community events.
  • Joan has achieved results for client organizations by designing and managing research-driven programs in reputation management; employee communication, recruitment and retention; news media relations; crisis communication; Web strategy; brand management; development and fund raising; corporate philanthropy; and community relations.

    Joan spent 15 years in communication management with ConAgra Foods, and managed corporate communication for Oriental Trading Company, the nation’s leading direct marketer of novelty toys. She served as national media relations director for Creighton University, and earlier in her career worked in secondary education public relations and fund raising.

    A graduate of Creighton University, Joan has a master’s degree in communication from the University of Nebraska at Omaha (UNO). She has taught public relations and advertising courses at Creighton and UNO. Joan also has served in leadership positions on several boards supporting nonprofit organizations and she is a graduate of Leadership Omaha. In 2005, Joan received the Alumni Achievement Award from the UNO School of Communication.

    Joan currently chairs the Director’s Advisory Board for the UNO School of Communication, is a member of the Good Old Girls Group and Omaha Network, and has been named to the UNO Alumni Association Board of Directors.
